Micah
Hi everyone, I’m Micah, founder of TruFluency Kids Spanish Immersion Classes for Kids online, here with my buddy Alex.

Alex
Hello!

Micah
And we’re doing our weekly Spanish Phrase to help parents who don’t speak Spanish to incorporate it.
So Alex, you told me that one of your kids was telling you to move.

Alex
Yes, she’s not even three years old, she’s two and she said ‘Mama, move’.

Micah
And so we’re gonna do, Alex thought it was a good idea to learn polite phrases today.
So what do you want to teach us, Alex?

Spanish Phrase #1 – How to Say Excuse Me in Spanish: Con Permiso.

Alex
I’m gonna teach you ‘Con permiso’ which is…

Micah
‘Con permiso’

Alex
Con permiso, it means ‘with your permission.’

Micah
And so like if I bump into you or like that? Or no?

Alex
No, con permiso is excuse me. Like if you’re walking and you want somebody to move, you say with your permission, move. It’s con permiso.

Micah
Okay, so this is the polite way to say ‘move’.

Alex
Yes.
Con permiso.

Micah
Okay, so I remember somebody said this to me when I was living in Mexico. They had to reach across me to get something in the grocery store. And they said con permiso because they had to reach in front of where I was.

Alex
You have to get their permission to go around them.

Micah
Be in their space.

Alex
Yes.
Or move them from where they are.

Micah
Okay.

Alex
Now, this is the tricky one because it’s one word. It’s compermiso not con, it means con permiso with your permission but they made it one word, it has an m so it’s compermiso.

Micah
Okay and the next one.

Spanish Phrase #2 – How to Say Please in Spanish: Por Favor.

Alex
Por favor.

Micah
Please.
Por favor.

Alex
Por favor, Please.

Micah
So, you have her saying that?

Alex
Yes.
and Gracias.
Thank you.

Micah
Okay, alright let’s practice again so you have to reach, oh, you have to pass somebody, they’re standing in the middle of the grocery aisle and you say to them.

Alex
Con permiso.

Micah
So that we can pass by them.

Alex
Then afterwards the lady doesn’t give you the receipt so you have to say  “the receipt, por favor.”

Micah
Por favor.
Please.

Alex
And after she hands you the receipt you say ‘gracias’.

Micah
Perfect. Okay, use that this week guys, make sure your kids are being polite in Spanish.
